In 1975 at 18, Kath, the eldest of 20 grandchildren, started working as a typist within the family business. After progressing through many varied administrative roles , Kath took on the role as Management Accountant for all concrete, quarry & reinforcing steel companies overseeing bespoke computer software introduction for product production and financial systems, advancing then to being manager of divisions of Nucon, Quarry, Builder refuse tip and Heat Treatment technologies in her mid 30s.
Kath used both her organisational and people skills to gain the respect from her peers in these usually male dominated industries, establishing the groups first NATA registered laboratory. Whilst continuing to work full-time, Kath had also became a mother of 2 children and by the age of 38, when her father passed away, Kath with her extensive experience and knowledge of the businesses, became one of the Board of Directors for 6 of the family companies and shareholder of all the Neumann Group companies – which is still her role today.
Being largely responsible for instigating and managing the change of merging and
restructuring some of the businesses has been the role , she has been most proud of.
Today, whilst continuing as a director and shareholder, Kath plays a less-active,
background role as she and her children have established their own family business with the founding of a boutique retail centre – Cornerstone Stores – together with other development projects.
