In 2011, David took up the leadership of the next generation of an iconic family business in the import/export and wholesale industry, in particular with reference to foodstuffs and distribution/warehousing. David’s prior experience as a management consultant has aided the operational and cultural transformation of the business including the re-focusing of investment priorities for the next generation owners which include his brother and four sisters.
Prior to taking the reins of the family business, David worked at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), having worked in a wide variety of roles, including strategic planning, mergers/acquisitions, post-merger integration, cultural transformation, cost reduction, capital management stakeholder management, corporate governance, across a number of industries, including aviation, financial services, IT, automotive, FMCG, private equity, public sector, construction, logistics and mining sectors. During his time, he was based on projects in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the USA.
Before joining BCG, David worked in the automotive sector, specifically on enterprise IT systems and long-range production and product strategies at DaimlerChrysler AG (Mercedes Car Group) in their headquarters in Germany.
Outside of work, David is a musician, having played violin, piano and saxophone to an advanced level, and since 2008 has been a director of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. Additionally, David played water polo at various state and regional levels in Australia, Germany, France and Italy, and also enjoys many other sports, especially golf and tennis.
