Arty grew up in the small remote fishing town of Karumba in the Gulf of Carpentaria and spent his formative years working with his grandfather and father in the fishing industry.
Today, Arty is a third-generation family member involved in the family business A Raptis & Sons, and credits the influence of his father, mother, aunt and uncles in shaping his career.
Being surrounded by such a wealth of knowledge has shaped Arty’s approach to tackling business pressures in the industry. As such, Arty took over the CEO role a few years ago with the same entrepreneurial spirit his father ingrained into the culture of the business.
Today, A Raptis & Sons is a vertically integrated fishing company turning over $150 million. It operates 16 fishing vessels nationally and employs 300 staff, all with the support of family and a strong leadership team.
Five shareholders in the second generation own the fishing company along with other successful companies under the family business umbrella. With a total of 10 cousins in the third generation, Arty saw the need for a family office and has worked closely with specialists to set one up.
In his spare time, Arty keeps busy with his love of surfing, art, music and looking after his two children.
