In a faster-paced more transactional world, people crave experiences. The 22nd Family Business Conference – Asia Pacific, brought to you by Family Business Australia and New Zealand, will provide family business members with an experience that cannot be found elsewhere.

On the back of a global pandemic that has seen how we live and interact, changing what we might have perceived as our rite of passage, FBANZ will bring to you an opportunity unlike any other. The ability to Re-connect with your community, Re-engage and learn from each other, and Re-energise to be inspired about the future, will provide a sense of community and belonging that empowers families in business.

For the first time in our 22 year history, the Family Business Conference – Asia Pacific will be held in Sydney! To bring you an irreplaceable experience, we will be hosting the conference at the most spectacular 5 star venue in Sydney, The Star Sydney.

This year we will be providing a shorter format program, and whilst the conference goes over 1 ½ days, our speaker and social program will have double the impact. You will hear Keynote speakers from around Australia, headlined by Janine Allis, founder Boost Juice Bars and Executive Director of Retail Zoo.

Tradition and family goes hand in hand. Last year we brought you a twelfth generation 340 year family business from Germany, but not to be outdone, this year Coopers (brewery) is celebrating 158 years as a family owned Australia business. Melanie Cooper will be sharing the family story on how they are restructuring their senior management, enabling the 5th generation to transfer from commercial to custodial roles, while the upcoming 6th generation find their feet.

We will also be joined by the McBride family, one of the country’s largest wool producers. Celebrating 100 years of wool, you will hear firsthand the trials and tribulations of this 6th generation family business story. We are also very excited that Andrew Eikmeier will join us as he tells us about his $100m overnight start-up success story that took 20 years in the making.

There is enormous diversity in the people that attend conference. We appreciate that what is important to one person may not be important to another, so we have created a robust schedule with great choice that allows you to build your own conference experience. Including 6 different parallel sessions on a number of family and business topics, so you can build your conference program your way.

Unlike other conferences, we understand just how important it is to create meaningful, fun experiences for family businesses to connect with other family businesses. That’s why we have included ample opportunity to socialise and network with your community during our social events.

Back again this year are the Longest Lunch, NxG Longest Lunch and our Women in Family Business Breakfast, hosted by Susanne Bransgrove with special guest presenter Fabian Datner.

The Family Business Awards Dinner will be an evening like no other. Join over 500 other family business members as we honour and celebrate our 2020 National awards winners and Hall of Fame inductees, and find out who will be inducted into FBANZ’s Life Member Honour Board. To keep the tradition of previous conference events, there will be special entertainment during the evening, guaranteed to get you up and heading straight to the dancefloor.
